The part's thermal performance is thoroughly examined to simulate the natural working conditions of high temperature and pressure exhaust flow present in the exhaust systems.

Genuine FINAL.svg

Testing our valves, modules and coolers, we employ a highly profiled, comprehensive validation procedure to secure its full functionality during its lifetime.

Genuine Nissens' test series consist of complete EGR valve operation and sensor feedback signal tested under temperatures simulating the engine compartment operational conditions. Furthermore, we test the EGR cooler performance for NOx emissions reduction according to the EU5 norm.
The EGR cooler bypass function is also tested for cold start. Finally, the valve undergoes a comprehensive corrosion test.

NISSENS EGR COOLER

FUNDAMENTALS

EGR coolers are part of advanced EGR systems integrated with an electrically operated EGR valve. The application of the cooler improves the engine's overall emissions performance as it cools the exhaust gas further down before it's directed into the combustion chamber. The primary objective of the EGR system is to reduce the peak combustion temperature, which hinders the formation of NOx gases.

Hence, lowering the exhaust gas temperature improves this effect.

The size and shape of the EGR cooler depend on the engine size, type, and emissions standard.

OPERATION

  • The EGR cooling depends on heat exchange between the engine coolant that flows through the cooler's EGR gases circuit. Flows of the two mediums are separated, and the engine coolant dissipates the heat of the exhaust gases.

  • A bypass flap integrated with the cooler enables flow control of the exhaust gases throughout the cooler, depending on the momentary engine needs. The flap can be actuated pneumatically or electronically.

  • Bypassing the EGR gases from the cooler helps the engine and its equipment (e.g., catalytic converter) achieve the operational temperature faster, especially by a cold start. It also reduces the combustion noise of a cold engine and its emissions of hydrocarbons in the warming-up mode.

Application scope

EGR coolers integrated with the bypass function and a DC-motor operated valve are the standard design EGR solution for diesel engines of Euro 6 standards and above.

EGR COOLING ADVANTAGES

  • Increases volumetric capacity of the EGR gases
  • Lowers temperature of the combustion
  • Contributes to the overall increase of the EGR effect and, thus further improves the NOx reduction

NOx is one of the side-effect products of the combustion process in the engine and forms mainly at high temperatures and pressures. The NOx concentrates emission to the atmosphere can be reduced by up to 50% via the various design of EGR systems.

NOx is a term for the gaseous oxides of nitrogen, and they are known for being extremely harmful to respiratory organs. The development of environmental pollution such as smog, acid rains, or ozone formation links to the impact of nitrogen oxides.

NISSENS EGR MODULE

EXCELLENT SOLUTION FOR THE AFTERMARKET

EGR modules are popular diesel application solutions.
This advanced design integrates an EGR Valve and an electric and pneumatic control cooler.

To secure the valve's proper function and a long lifetime in spite of exposure to harsh working conditions (temperatures, exhaust gases, vibrations), we have developed our product, applying several design improvements and comprehensive test series.

The result is a perfectly performing, durable replacement part and a competitive aftermarket solution.
